General Terms and Conditions
Tutoring Sessions
Tutoring is a weekly commitment.
Each session lasts an hour and will normally take place in term time.
No tuition will take place during school holidays, except for the summer holiday.
Tuition sessions are sometimes available during the summer holidays at the discretion of the tutor. This will be discussed with all parents during the summer term, and sessions can be booked individually.
Payment terms
Payment should be made by bank transfer, at least 48 hours in advance of the lesson.
Parents will be provided with bank details after a mutually agreed timeslot has been confirmed.
Payment can be made monthly or weekly.
Payment secures your child’s timeslot. If payment is not received, the timeslot may be offered to another student on the waiting list.
Cancellations
Term-time cancellations
Each family is allowed one free cancellation per term. Any other cancellations will need to be paid in full. This is to ensure fairness and to provide clarity for everyone.
Term dates closely follow those of Shropshire Council and will be emailed out to all parents before the start of each term.
In the unlikely event of the tutor cancelling a session, a full refund will always be given.
Summer Holiday Cancellations
As summer holiday tuition is more flexible, cancellations are accepted as long as 48 hours’ notice is given, and no fee will be due. However, if less than 48 hours’ notice is provided, the full fee will still be payable.
Notice Period
A week’s notice is required if you no longer require tuition. Refunds will be returned to the bank account from which they were received.
Session Arrival and Departure
Please arrive promptly for the start of every session.
Please collect promptly at the end of every session.
The tutor will not be available before the agreed start time of the session; however, families are welcome to wait on the driveway if they arrive early.
If you arrive late for a session, it will end at our previously scheduled time.
Feedback
For those students having individual tuition, brief feedback will be given at the end of the session and will be included in the allotted hour.
This feedback will be given to the adult who is collecting the child unless I have been informed otherwise.

Equipment
All equipment such as pens, pencils and paper will be provided during the session.
Much of the work that we do is practical in nature, using games and resources to learn and reinforce new concepts. The work that we do record will be kept in an exercise book which will usually remain securely in the tutoring room between sessions. This book is always available for parents to look at when we discuss feedback at the end of each session.

Homework
If your child is receiving specialist dyslexia tuition, it is important that they have the opportunity to revisit and practise new concepts in between lessons.
The main task will be practising their phonics, and your child may bring home a pack of reading cards that they should practise on a daily basis if possible. This activity is very quick and should only take 5 minutes per day. On occasion, other practical and enjoyable homework or activities will be suggested to reinforce concepts.
Reading cards will be sent home weekly in an individual pouch that I provide.
